Can I use an IL agent to buy a property in WI?

Guys, does an IL realtor have to have a local WI license to help me buy a property in WI? We found the property and since it is on the border of WI, the need in a realtor to represent us.

The IL realtor I am considering is experienced and has wonderful recommendation from another real estate investor. WI has a ton of gifted realtors with excellent sales records but I need someone who is more versed in rental properties, does it regularly and will be able to help with a good piece of advice?

The IL realtor is ready to represent but I do not know whether it is the smart move since most sites recommend a local realtor. Just one more to add: based on his words the IL realtor has done deals in other states as well.

I want to work with someone I know and feel comfortable with. At the same time, I want to make sure that the closing will go smoothly and we will have a good advice.

Thank you
