Power Lines an Issue when developing land for Affordable Homes?

Casey Briscoe
Posted

My team and I are looking at a specific property in Alvarado, Tx. We like the location to the hwy and also the rural feel of the area. Our concern is the power lines. I know it could be an eye soar however it's positioned at a 90 degree line with the property. Majority of the line runs behind the property. My main concern is the property value. We want to build new construction affordable homes. I would like some thoughts as to what we should be concerned with or, if anyone has encountered this issue with new development. Thank you for your help!

I haven't developed in an area like this...but I know from my experience and those of friends, that a high-power line running even nearby the property is a big turn-off. You will still get some interest if the prices are low enough, but overall you're buying 'damaged' property . IMHO.
