Grant funding for rehab

I have an opportunity to purchase a commercial building that is eligible for the NY Forward Program. It is a grant to revitalize the downtown area of the town. This particular program awards $4.5 million to each of its selected towns. The town where this property is has been awarded the grant already. The grant will cover 75% of renovation costs and I would be responsible for the other 25%.  There has been verbal mention that $1 million would be allocated to this building. To give you a sense this is an old building that sits on a corner lot (one of the few with parking) and almost every building around it has been updated. There are restaurants and shops and it's a great location. I am attending a meeting this week to learn more about the grant. If anyone has experience with getting grants are there any specific questions I should be asking when I attend the meeting? I used to be on the board for a non profit where I would assist with grants all the time but I feel like this is different because I am not the direct beneficiary of the grant, the village is.
