How to Present real estate deals??

Question

Hi thanks for clicking on my ad, does anyone no of any cheap software that i can buy that will help me present my real estate deals more professionally? i need something much better then Google Documents

I use "Openoffice.org Impress" its 100% free and full function.  I actually perfer it to powerpoint.  And it will open any presentations that were created with powerpoint.

I actually just got back in my office from a presentation using impress that went very well.

Marc, what kind of deals are you involved in? I see you provide data, that may be all well and good, but are you a buyer or seller?

Data is great for related`aspects, but if you came to my office to discuss financing a project and started to set up a powerpoint prsentation, I'd probably cut it short, that just isn't the way deals are made.

Personally I am a fan of powerpoint because it is easy to incorporate multimedia. I agree with Don Konipol in that it would be effective to keep the presentation simple instead of going over the top.

for what it's worth, I have found that the fancier and slicker the presentation, the worse the deal!  Make it simple, summarize on one page, another page for photos.  Additional info can be emailed later if the prospect is interested.

Let an older investor chime in here. You said "present" a deal, not analyize a deal.

I realize that we all have gotten caught up in the digital world to some extent, younger people seem tobe addicted, if there were an app to brush thier teeth they probably try to use it.

Presentations take on different flavors depending on the complexity and size of the deal. Who you are making a presentation to? A buyer, a seller an investor or a bank? Each will be presented differently.

IMO, if you attempt to present deals with hard copy or on a lap top, that means you had to input data, then follow some page by page presentation......a waste of time!

Not to say you don't sometimes need some black and white facts, but you'll do much better in your pitch if you know your subject and can relate your position on a personal basis.

In any sales (a convincing presentation) meeting you need to have command of the meeting, you need the right mind set to begin with, you are the expert, not them (doesn't mean to be arogant). If you project knowledge, honesty and empathy for the other party you'll have homeruns.

Don't start out with a crutch, trying to click through a presentation based on data, in a commercial deal, the other party isn't stupid and they will be looking aat your assumptions of the data used, if they don't agree with your assumptions, the problem they believe that may exist flows through the entire presentation and you have wasted your time and thiers.

Make your presentation a two way discussion, with agreements acknowledged as you touch on each aspect that flows to a logical end.

Check out BP Member Daniil Kleyman's profile. I've used his programs and they spit out some really impressive deal analysis packages for potential lenders.

Also, a quick google search will show a lot of programs for deal presentations. Personally, I've made my own presentations and I use one now that pulls a lot of features from presentations that I've seen in the past.

One tip is to focus on what the lender will gain and not on what YOU stand to gain. Who cares about what you're gonna make on a deal, people want to know how it will benefit them and how you are qualified to provide.

I agree with John. Making sure your presentation looks professional is a fraction it. Making sure you utilize the right words and come across with confidence is imperative. But I am sure I am preaching to the choir.

Personally I have used Google Docs and Keynote (Apple's equivalent to Powerpoint) with success.

Software choice? PowerPoint? Put together a 5 step speech presentation and expand your numbers and ideas on your slides. It does depend on the method of communication but I'm assuming that your pitching locally. All basic Microsoft office components are great ways to present your real estate deals in either a public speaking environment or an Internet file transfer. Take classes that offer public speaking tips and tricks, makes a world of difference and yes I am speaking from experience.

The software choice may depend on how you are presenting the properties.  Are you presenting them online, in person, via flyer, etc.?
