Hi

If the mortgage gets wiped out in a tax-dead sell, what do I have to look out for before bidding?

IRS liens, city/county/state liens, HOA liens, code violations, the condition of the home (assuming there is even a home on the lot), etc. Also, there could be other costs after you acquire the tax deed (i.e. removing any occupants in the property, quiet title action, etc). You can search for "tax deed" on this site and find lots of forum posts and blogs on the topic for further reading.
