First time real estate investor

Would this house happen to be a reasonable first time investment? I recently found this on realtor.com

Looks as though the home would need some serious restoration. Seems like a reasonable price for the house but I'm unsure how much it would cost to restore the house.

USDA foreclosure

This house is near a college town that I will be attending. I figured it would be smart to purchase an investment property to build equity and possibly rent out.
