Help finding foreclosures!

Hi everyone, I am currently looking to buy a single family home in the Boston, Greater Boston area. I'd imagine foreclosures are the best place to look for the best prices. Any suggestions on where to look(online, in person, etc.) in order to find the best deal I can Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Here are some possible options:

-Major Website Banks

-Hire an agent who specializes in foreclosed homes.

-Driving through the neighborhood and try to find Real Estate Signs (Ex. Foreclosure, Bank-Owned)

-Government Agencies
                      -Department of Housing and Urban Development
                      -Department of Treasury

-Auction Houses

@Don Wede Where would you find auction houses? Also do you have any experience in buying a house for auction?

@Sean Carroll I have bought to my recollection two property at foreclosure sales. I think I attended two more and was overbid. Never has been a favorite way to acquire property. To much competition.
