I was searching online records for letters of pre foreclosure that was sent out. I came across various types of "Lis Pendens". I was wondering if anyone could explain the different types? Or which one should I look under to view the first notice that was sent to the resident?
Lis Pendens Foreclosure, Lis Pendens Discharge, Lis Pendens Foreclosure and Recovery, Lis Pendens in REM, and Lis Pendens Recovery.
"Lis Pendens" is Latin for "Suit Pending".
A lis pendens is an official notice to the public that a lawsuit involving a claim on a property has been filed.
The types of are are as numerous as the stars, depending on what state and county you are in.
They mean the same thing except the the Discharge, which means it has been discharged/canceled.
