Help choosing a career path

Hello everyone, I am a sophomore in college studying economics and learning as much about real estate as I can. I know I want to be a multifamily investor and start a company to syndicate deals. I talked to a multifamily investor and his number one advice was to get a job at a company that invests in multifamily to get started. I understand that there are many different careers within a real estate investment firm.

What do you think would be the best career path to set me up well to start a company and scale up? Also, what companies invest primarily in multifamily?

Do you guys like this strategy or would you do something different? Also, if you have any good suggestions for me to further educate myself such as books or courses. Thank you all!

Take a job as a PM assistant. Most want FT. Licensed realtor could be next step. Only RE brokers with special insurances, and special credentials can do PM these days in just about all states. With equal housing laws, service animals the brokers often get contacted by lawyers not selecting their clients.
