I am looking to start investing in multi-family properties (+5 doors). I am not sure how to get started. Any advice?

Two books I found helpful on the topic are "The Complete Guide to Buying and Selling Apartment Buildings" by Steve Berges, and "Multifamily Millions" by David Lindahl. There is tons of good content in both books, and they will also keep you inspired. Reading these books will help you develop confidence when you talk with commercial brokers.

Go on loopnet.com and find brokers in your area selling properties that roughly match your criteria. Even if you do not find any buildings that look like a good fit for you, call the brokers and ask if they have anything else for sale, or know of any other deals. Chatting with these folks not only builds relationships, it builds your confidence.
