Structural Engineer - Interested in my own Build and Rent/Sell project(s)

I am a structural engineer with about 15 years of experience including many high-end custom home projects over the last 5 years. About a year ago I started my own consultancy and things have been going really well. Through my experience in the architecture/engineering/construction industry I know the process of building from inception to design to permitting to construction to occupancy. And I've built many relationships with architects as well as contractors and sub-contractors (concrete, framing, electrical, plumbing, etc.)...

All to say that I'm motivated to leverage my background and connections to build and either sell or rent single-family homes in my area (Southwest Montana). Are there any good resources out there, or calculators/spreadsheets/tools/etc. to help me understand costs and the financial process a little better? Any other advice?

Thanks!
