REAL HARDWOOD OR ENGINEERED HARDWOOD FLOOR?

I know "REAL" hardwood floors sound great. However; engineered wood (not laminate) can be refinished too, and is more consistent in coloring and finish I'm told. For high end homes, what have you used? Brand?

If you use real hardwood, what is the max width you've used with good results? 5, 6"?

We are using both engineered and real hardwood in our projects.  On our latest, we used real wood, in this case, acacia.
