How much would it cost to build this house?

Hi everyone,

I'm curious if there are any developers that could price the cost of building a 5 bed, 4 bath at 2200sqft? I'm attempting to understand the economics of buying a home, knocking it down, and building it up again.  At the end of the day - what sort of profit are developers are making on a single-build?

I know there are multiple variables, so here's the house in question: https://www.trulia.com/p/nj/cranford/42-hillcrest-...

Thanks in advance!

John M. The cost I gave included everything, the proverbial “soup to nuts”. They also did major structural/framing repairs to the parts of the house that were not demolished.
One trick builders in NJ have used forever, although I am not sure if the laws caught up with them yet, when demolishing a house, leave one exterior wall standing. The legal premise at work here is, if that wall is existing the house isn’t new, therefore it can’t be given the same property tax bill as new construction. Double check that, as I am not sure that loop hole still exists.
