I've heard that's it's valuable to obtain a general contractor's license; is there anything else?

Becoming a general contractor isn't something you just can go do. It takes years of experience working in construction to qualify to take the test for a Class B license.

Being a developer doesn't require a license. However; as a developer you need to have an understanding of real estate, construction, engineeering, business administration, and a multitude of other things.

I have written a blog in the 'member blogs' on development if you'd like to read it. There's 3 parts so far.

Of course, it is possible to hire people to do all the things you don't know how to do.
