Clearwater, FL in-law suite upgrades question?

Hello guys, wish all the best. I am an investor in Clearwater, Fl from NJ, one year ago, I purchased a property in Clearwater, I surprisingly found out there is a large garage in the backyard have existing plumbing and electricity in it, also I can tell the previous owner have already turned the garage into two bedrooms in-law suite, but they cover all the things up for selling process, so I wonder

1. if necessary to invest more money to upgrade the garage into an in-law suite, so I can rent out to one or two tenants for extra cash

2. Also, if any contractor for recommendation, finding a reliable contractor in Clearwater will be really hard.

Hello, I don't know what is the best way to handle this job for saving some bucks , I thought just a few handymen can finish that, but the permit also need to file properly

If you are just planning on holding this property then the additional cash flow from another unit is most likely going to cover the cost of the buildout. Depending on the extent of the rehab that is needed.  I have a few crews that I use to handle my flips and I have a few good GC’s that could pull permits and can get the job done correct.  I’m local in Clearwater and can drive by and take a look and give you my estimate on a buildout Mother in law suite

1. you will have to put some money into remodeling, depending on what's already in the garage.  insulation in ceiling & on walls, heat/A/C unit, electrical & lighting, perhaps need to upgrade the electrical panel in there, replace garage door with something else, new interior walls, drywall, bathroom fixtures, some kitchen appliances, and finishes (paint, tile, etc).

2. we have all types of Contractors here, from high end to fly-by-night.  you might search the Contractors listed on the NARI Tampa Bay website, whose members have already been vetted.  have one come out to the garage and give you a cost guess-timate.

3. check out Rentometer.com for nearby rents.  calculate if the remodeling cost is worth the extra rent.  good luck!
