Attended my first REI group meeting

Last night I attended my first REI group meeting, specifically the Long Island REIA (LIREIA). I met some nice people and learned a lot. I introduced myself to a rehabber whose office is one town over from mine. It turns out that he once lived on my street and his mother was the Realtor who represented the people that I bought my house from! The focus of the meeting was raising private funds to purchase apartment buildings. I found out that this was something that I really feel I can do. I'm now considering changing my buy and flip strategy to purchasing apartments out of state, because the housing prices on LI are more expensive than elsewhere. I also found out that the market for foreclosures in my county is not very good. Next month I'll be going to a 3 day seminar on purchasing apartments. Very excited! Until then I'll keep reading whatever I can to learn more about REI.
