Return on investment after a rehab

So I have a property that has been renting just fine.  The tenant moved out & we need to do a rehab on the property.  This is all fine....except the rehab is more than the rent I would collect for 2-3 years.  Does it still make sense to hold the property when you are losing money or should one sell the property to recoup the rehab cost?
