School distance matter?

Hello All,

I am newbie to real estate investing but learning a lot reading the forums here and from the webinars. I am from the DFW area and I found a single family home in one of suburbs which I would like to make a rental property. But the distance from the schools is something that caught my eye. The elementary is 2 miles away but the middle and high schools are 8 miles away. Considering most families would have school going kids, I am really wondering how many would like sending their kids so far to school. I am pretty sure school buses are available. Any insights gurus?

As an investor and parent myself, I can speak a little to both 😀

We put more importance on the school scores to choose where to buy a rental, if the school scores are met, the distance does not matter to us as much. 

As a parent, we drive more than 2 miles every day to drop our kids off.
