Can I ask my mortgage broker for a referral incentive?

Posted

I am not a licensed realtor, just an individual who has referred multiple folks to my broker, who has helped them buy homes, and therefore he makes money off of said referrals.  Is it wrong/illegal for me to suggest he provide an incentive to continue getting referrals from me?

@Angela Guzman Basham, I think you should 100% ask for a referral fee if you have more to send them.  He should be happy to share some commission considering he'd have zero dollars to show if you didn't refer him.  If not, I'm sure someone else would. Brokers should be thrilled to pay referral fees.

As for the legality, you should check with an attorney in your area about if you can receive a referral fee.
