Chicago Suburb not allowing rentals
I just ran across a Chicago South Suburb (Country Clubs Hills) that still has a Rental License Moratorium in place. This means any investor that buys in the city will not be granted a Rental License, making it illegal to rent out your property. This process of getting a Rental License is already excruciating; you have to attend a 4hr class and are forced to hire a property manager if you live more than 30 miles away... In my opinion, I think this city is trying to flush out rental properties. I wonder what they are doing to fix and flip investors. @Crystal Smith Do you know other other Chicagoland cities with the strange laws targeting investors.

@Jay Thomas if you buy a property that has an active good standing license you would be good...they have a website you can create an account for to look these up (https://rentalregistrar.com/rentals/rentals.html). Country Clubs was very vocal in the early 2000s that they didnt want renters. Tinley Park was too but they obviously didnt run into the same issue. For Country Club Hills as a landlord you must hire lawn and snow landscapers and you are not able to put the service on your tenants as is the benefit in most SFH scenarios.
The south burbs are tough to do business in unless you are in Homewood, Flossmoor, Olympia Fields, or the burbs to the west. Calumet City is now going back to enforcing having the rental license sticker in the window and Markham will give $500.00 fines to any work truck in front of your property that isnt registered with the city. Be careful in Hazel Crest because the city will let the property close without making the Point of Sale(POS) inspection a closing requirement so when new owner goes to get rental license Hazel Crest will say you first must pass the POS and then once you pass that you have to go through the RL process.
