Sewer inspection needed and cost?

i am closing on a property in memphis. I would like to know if sewer inspection is needed. If it is needed kindly let me the know the expected cost incurred for the inspection and also a good inspector contact?

@Pradeep Roy I would get a home inspection first and see how that goes. If your home inspector suggests drains are draining slowly or something along those lines then it might be worth your time to get a sewer inspection. If nothing is mentioned about it then I don't get them personally.

Make sure you are satisfied. The fact that your 'turnkey company' is asking you to arrange inspection and cost for sewer would be worrisome to me quite frankly. But there may be something I am missing here? All the best!

We do sewer inspections on all properties. It may be turnkey, but when was it built and why isn't the turnkey company providing you with a home inspection, including sewer, with the package? General cost should be about $200-$300 and the apparatus has a camera on it to go through. What you are looking for is:

1. what is the line made of - PVC preferred (newer), cast iron solid, clay would be a major concern

2. are there trees in the front yard with roots growing into the line. If the line is not broken, this is treatable with annual hydrojetting

3. are there any breaks in the line?

4. are there offsets in the line that could back up?

Call a few people who do home inspections and ask if they can recommend someone or google "sewer inspector memphis tn" and you will see a number of options-then look at their ratings.

Talk to your realtor. They should be able to point you in the direction of someone local and have an idea of what the cost is.
