ideas for how to connect with developers?

hi! does anyone know how i could connect with more developers? 

i moved to detroit last year, read the zoning code, outlined it, studied it. i am just really into it. i would love to connect with developers to help find them land or buildings for loft conversions (or whatever their ideas are). yesterday, i just analyzed all the new build sales last year for price per sqft sold and leased. and i know the 10ish neighborhoods where developers are building new housing stock in my market. 

but how do i get in front of developers? where is the developer watering-hole? 

i feel like i'm in analysis paralysis mode and just learning, learning, learning. rather than doing and connecting.
