Getting Started with Long-Term Rentals in Durham, NC - Advice & Agent Recs

Hi BiggerPockets Community!

I’m getting ready to purchase my first investment property and currently have my eye on Durham, NC, and the surrounding areas. My goal is to acquire 2–4 properties over the next 12 to 15 months, with a focus on long-term rentals as I build out my portfolio.

I’d love to connect with other investors who have experience in this market, especially those who are investing from out of state. If you've navigated long-distance investing in North Carolina, I’d really appreciate any insights - whether it’s how you built your local team, what challenges you encountered, or tips on what’s worked (or not worked!) for you.

I’m also looking to connect with investor-friendly real estate agents and property managers who are experienced in working with out-of-state buyers. If you’re an agent in the area or can recommend a solid one, I’d be grateful for the referral!

Thanks in advance!
