Hello!

My girlfriend and I are in the process of getting pre approved in Alabama (where we've never lived) and I feel like I'm stuck right now with nothing to do until we get the numbers back. My girlfriend said I should start looking at houses in the area, but I told her I don't know the price range. And I want to  start looking at specific neighborhoods in Huntsville but I'm not really sure what to look for.

We're trying to get a duplex if we can afford it. If not then we'll try to get a 4 bed room house and rent out the other rooms until we're ready to move out. I know there's some colleges on the area so I'm not opposed to renting it out to students. But I would really appreciate some help with what to look for when narrowing down locations! Thank you!

@Jaxon Johnson You’re in the best stage right now, the research compounding phase. Everyone rushes pre-approval, but pros use this time to map where the money sleeps.

Study what rents actually move near major employers (Redstone, NASA, Space Command, Meta...). Use Google Street View to spot neighborhoods that visibly improved.

Filter by human behavior i.e., proximity to coffee shops, gyms, hospitals, and churches that show weekend parking overflow. That’s rent demand you can’t see on spreadsheet
