California - Would you invest here?

As a California native, I am so frustrated as to what has happened to this state! As a Realtor, every day I see people selling their homes and fleeing. Reason are Taxes, high cost of living, homelessness, crime, and so much more. We used to build spec new construction, but due to the high interest rates, and cost of materials, it no longer makes sense. Add to all of that the political climate,, and the fact they're closing refineries, so God only knows what's happening on fuel prices!  For the past few years I've been working as a Realtor, in Redding, CA, and doing good. However; we have a huge demand for rentals here,  high rents, and little supply. I'm trying to decide if it's time to get going again building, possibly multi family.

Question:  If you are investor or lender, what are your thoughts about California, and Redding (true nor cal) area if you're familiar with it (we have lakes, rivers, mountians, 2 volcanos, huindreds of miles of trails, etc. so as far as recreation, it's amazing!)

Replied

I lived in SoCal for 5 years in my 20s so have some fond memories from CA.  I attended UCLA.

As a RE investor, I'll pass.  If my money can go anywhere in the US, it makes more sense to send it to states where it is wanted and treated well.  CA treats investments like it is money owed to the state.

Happy to visit CA, not to invest there.
