Land Cost vs Home Value ratio

Mak K.
Posted

I have rental portfolio and am now deciding on building my own SFH for rental. I am from Houston. My target would be low income housing style basic homes. 1800 SF, 4,000 lot, contractor grade style

What is a good land cost ratio to ARV I should be aware of? A typical home in Houston SFH is $225-$250K for old homes. New homes are at $325K on outskirts of Houston.

Question

What should be a land cost compared to SFH built.
