The Most Underrated Asset in Your Business? Your Community.

Ryan Ferguson
Posted

Your network isn’t just helpful… it’s a massive unfair advantage and it puts you in position to deliver massive results for your capital partners… if you actually use it.

One of the biggest lessons my brother @Jason Ferguson and I learned over time:

We joined a platform initially for the training.

And don’t get me wrong, the content is solid!

But the real value?

The community. And not even close.

Inside that community you’ve got:

• People actively doing deals

• People who have already solved problems you’re facing

• People willing to share what’s working (and what’s not)

• People ahead of you, and people right behind you

And yet… most people barely tap into it.

Here’s what I’ve found actually moves the needle:

1. Ask for help (early and often) - Not when you’re stuck for weeks. Not when it’s too late. Right when something feels unclear, ask.

2. Share what you’re working on - Your goals, your deals, your challenges. You’d be surprised how many doors open just by putting things out there.

3. Help other people win - Answer questions. Make introductions. Share what you’re learning. That’s how you build real relationships, not just contacts.

4. Find mentors inside the room - There are people in your community already living the results you want.Reach out. Be respectful of their time. Be specific with your questions.

Most people are more willing to help than you think.

👉 I’ve personally been fortunate to connect with guys like @Nicholas Chapman @Michael Mnatsakanian, and others who have been incredibly generous with their time and insights. Those conversations alone have saved us from mistakes, sharpened our strategy, and accelerated our growth in a big way.

5. Use proximity as leverageYou’re one conversation away from:

• A better strategy

• A new opportunity

• A key relationshipBut only if you engage.

We talk a lot about “buying the course” or “joining the program”…

But the truth is:

👉 The content gives you knowledge

👉 The community gives you acceleration

And here’s the part that matters most to us as operators...The stronger the room we’re in…The better decisions we make.

The better decisions we make…The better we perform.

And ultimately, that directly impacts how well we show up for our capital partners and investors.

Being plugged into the right community doesn’t just help us grow.

It helps us:

• Underwrite better deals

• Avoid costly mistakes

• Move faster with more confidence

• Execute at a higher level

Which is exactly what our partners are trusting us to do. If you’re part of a strong network and not actively engaging…You’re leaving one of your biggest advantages on the table.

Curious, what’s been the most valuable connection or lesson you’ve gained from a communities that you’re part of?
