Building Relationships Before Deals

Hi everyone,

I've been spending a lot of time learning about off-market real estate, and one thing has become clear: this business is built on relationships far more than quick wins.

I'm still early in my journey, so I'm not here to act like an expert. I'm here to learn from people who have already put in the work.

What attracts me to off-market real estate is that it rewards solving real problems. Every distressed property has a story behind it, and every successful deal seems to come from understanding people's situations, communicating well, and creating solutions that benefit everyone involved.

As I've continued learning, I've realized that acquisition professionals play a much bigger role than simply finding deals. They build rapport with sellers, evaluate opportunities, negotiate thoughtfully, and create the foundation for successful transactions. That's a skill set I genuinely respect and want to understand better.

One of my goals is to build long-term relationships with acquisition managers, wholesalers, investor-friendly agents, and other investors who value integrity, consistency, and continuous learning. I'd rather earn trust over time than chase shortcuts.

I'm looking forward to contributing to discussions here, learning from the community, and hopefully giving back as I gain more experience.

For those of you who've been in acquisitions or off-market investing for a while, what's one lesson you wish someone had taught you when you were just getting started?
