Renovation newbie: Resources?

We've done plenty of renovation on our own place over the past 8 years but next month we'll be ready to renovate 2 units in our new 4 plex. Wondering if anyone has any great resources for a beginner, especially concerning what areas are worth upgrades and which aren't.

We want to have both units renovated by the end of Aug. so we can get them rented for Sept. This gives us 5 weeks for one unit and 3 weeks for the other. Suggestions on what's worth contracting vs. DIY? I have no doubt we can do most of it but it would be slower and I'm not sure we could turn them in time. Current to do list below.

Kitchen - tile floors, new backsplash, refinish cabinets (not planning to buy new at this point but reserving the right to change my mind depending on the condition), new counters, new hardware, new appliances, new sink and fixtures

Bath - tile floors and shower, new sink and cabinet, update fixtures

Misc - new paint throughout, updated lighting, sand and paint front porch, new front doors, minor landscaping

Lower unit also needs the living room ceiling replaced. Currently has an ugly commercial drop ceiling installed - how we decide to tackle that one will depend on what it looks like underneath. Upper unit has access to the partially finished attic and its still TBD whether we're going to try to make that a second bedroom - will mostly depend on time and how much money is left in the budget.

Appreciate any advice!

The first thing that I would do is check and see what other rentals (like yours) in the area look like inside.

This will give you an idea about what is needed.  The only thing you've listed that I wouldn't necessarily recommend you do yourself is the front doors, but that's really just a personal preference.  You may also want to hire a painter (depending on the amount needed and the complexity of the space).
