Dallas/Ft Worth - REIA - worth joining?

Question

Specific to DFW market question. Saw a promotional email from DFW REIA (http://reiadfw.com/) about joining them for 100$/yr. Their meetup seems to be highly attended, and the only one I attended a few months ago seemed like was for people who are active investors.

I am a beginner investor with interest in acquiring more properties, but am not active enough in the networking. And, as a beginner, more interested in deal analysis and conservative investments (flips & complex financing etc scare me).

Seeking opinion from other DFW area investors if this membership would be worth it and best ways to use that membership if I do sign up.

@Ashwani K. There are a few really good meetups that do not require you to pay. ThinkMultifamily (@Elijah Vo) and the one run by Jospeh Gozlan come to mind.

There are a ton of gurus out there who will take your money and put you into their "ultra successful" program. They have active investors as well. But most aren't going anywhere.

@Ashwani K. - this is one of the few groups in the area I have yet to visit.  There are plenty of free groups out there if you do a quick search on Meetup.com for REI or real estate or similar terms.  Check out the group @Sherry Patterson has put together that meets this week over in Euless.

As for this particular group you are referencing, do a quick search on BiggerPockets for discussions about Phil or Shenoah Grove (she runs it as I understand, but her husband is also in the REI biz).  I know I have seen a few posts on him, not sure about her.

@Ashwani K. as @Omar Khan mentioned, there are several out there that can offer their assistance for some investors. A lot of this can be beneficial too. However, you may need to pay (more or less) for the education offered in some of these cases. Maybe going to a few free ones before making the decision to pay for one of the others might be prudent?

I believe its a great place to network and gain knowledge. Well worth the "tax deductable" membership fee. Go for it.
