First REIA? What will I need? Etiquette?

Question

So, I've been a real estate investor for a few years now (buy and hold).  I'm somewhat of an introvert.  I've also been receiving meeting information from the Atlanta REIA for about 2 years, and always read the email but never attend the meet-up.

I'm thinking about going this Monday and paying the $20 at the door.  My question is, what is the etiquette?  What should I wear? Being a natural listener and shy person, I just want to "melt" into the meeting.  Anything would make me feel more confident, any comments are welcome.  Thanks.

Hey - I can relate to you.

Meet people and ask questions. Most folks love to talk about themselves. So, ask about them, get them talking. You even find that interacting with them becomes a natural part of the interaction.

I'm Asperger's. So, social interaction has been something I've had to learn - I wasn't "born that way". I find it helpful to get them talking first and see where it goes. I get to learn FROM them while I learn ABOUT them.

I can relate to you as well, I started going to my local REIA a couple of years ago.

Be professional, dress business casual and just go around the room shaking hands introducing yourself. Pass out your business card, and ask for theirs. Exchange ideas and experiences.

Or another good way to start is to find a few active BP members here, who attends that REIA. Meet these individuals first and start from there.
