Management company signing lease agreement?

Recently the lease term ended on one of my properties and the tenant decided to stay. My management company sent a new month to month lease renewal to the tenant, and then executed the lease with someone from the management company. I had signed the original 1 year lease, and was surprised that someone from my management company had signed the renewal. Is this common practice? Does this limit my liability at all?
