Capitol Gains on Rental Property...?

Does anyone know how many rentals a person can own before having to pay capitol gains tax? Or, is any gains on any amount of properties owned taxable?

@Dave Foster Thank you for the clarification. At this point I'm not going to sell anything. I have done quite of work on the units since I acquired them but they are all cash flowing now. I live in Phoenix and the pricing for purchasing rentals is out of my reach at this time, so I will continue to improve my properties and build up reserves. I will be retiring in a couple of years, so its all about the cash flow.
