How I Learned The RE Game

When I started it was 2012 and investors were buying properties on the MLS for $60,000 and at auctions $30K-40K. I studied flippers buy properties for $60,000 rehab them and put them back on the market 3-6 months later. I looked at what type of rehab they did and estimated the cost they probably spent. I could then figure the profit with relative accuracy. I did this for a year. I went to property tours held by a large investor and saw first hand what they did.

I learned so much about value, rehab, profit and neighborhoods, not to mention the connections I was able to build while attending REIA meetings and other RE Seminars. I became a BRRRR investor for the most part, but flip a few a year. There are so many ways to learn.

You could follow a similar system today.  Prices are different but the concept is the same.  Keep learning and finding different ways to educate yourself.  I think you learn best by looking first hand at things versus virtual.

Good Luck.

    Nice work, Kenneth!

I expect that for the most part, this was a fun education for you. Interest fuels passion, which fuels researching, which fuels taking a chance, which fuels fine tuning of process and strategy!
