International Real Estate Investing

Hi all!

I’m a US citizen living in Australia and have been itching to start my real estate investing journey. Property in the USA is definitely a more attractive option, and I’m aiming to start with multi family (<$100,000). I’ll have about $20,000USD cash to begin with, and hoping for tips on:

- Financing the property through a bank from a different country.

- Laws in regards to tenancy in the USA (being a sue-happy nation)

- Process involved once I find a property I like. And

- How to manage the property from afar.

I have a few family members in the USA that may be able to help on ground if needed (however not financially).

Thanks in advance, and I look forward to hearing any tips no matter how big or small!

Zack

Since you are a US citizen the process really won't be as complex as being a completely international investor. I would talk with a few local lenders in your target markets that you narrow in on. Finding a local Realtor should be able to help you with the overall process and tenant/landlord rights and laws differ from state to state so I would do your research on that. Once you have a property you will most likely hire a property management company for a month % although I know people who have a smaller portfolio that have local leasing agents and handymen connections to do the important parts of owning property and they just purchase a PM software to save money. Hope this helps @Zack George
