Need Advice -ASAP

I have a situation I need advice on.  This is regarding my personal home also.  We switched insurance companies back in June and on Friday we received a letter from our mortgage company saying that they are charging us $4,000 for insurance they had to purchase to cover our home for 2 months.  But, the thing is we had insurance the whole time.  For some reason they say we went 2 months without insurance.  And, why it is $4,000 is beyond me since it only cost about $1,000 for the whole year.

About 3-4 months ago they sent a letter asking us to log onto their website and update our insurance information, which I did.  And, now we received the letter stating they are charging us $4,000.

I am going to call them on Monday and send them a copy of our insurance showing that we had coverage the entire time.  But, what if they they say we still own them the $4,000?  What are my options then?

Thanks
