Appraiser wouldnt appraise house ...........Heres why

My best friend is getting a HELOC to buy an investment property . Self employed utility contractor . The heloc is on his personal house , 400K in equity . He had an appointment today at 3 pm . the appraised calls and says he is running 1/2 hr late due to traffic. Never shows up , the friend of mine calls , there is no answer . At 7 pm he gets an email from the loan officer . The appraiser wouldnt do his job because , " the truck in the driveway had a Confederate flag on it " Now I see this guy 3 to 4 times a week , known him 30 years . The " flag" is on decorative license plate trim , its about 2 inches by 4 inches if that big . The neighborhood $ 700K homes .

Have the bank move the appraisal to a new appraiser. This time ask your friend to park the truck away from the house. Why create an issue when there is no need for it.
