Personal mortgage loan -bad credit

Hey I'm looking to upgrade my house as my family has officially out grown our current house. I'm needing a mortgage loan however my credit has taken a hit from my student loans. I went to my bank which I've successfully paid them on 2 different mortgages in the past and they can't give me a loan even though I had good payment history with them because of my credit score.. Any other options I should look into?
