FHA-approved lender recommendations (Central Iowa)

Hi All,

My wife and I are fiercely looking for our first multi-family property around central Iowa (Des Moines metro, Ames, etc.) to move into and house hack. We are currently renting, and this will be our first home purchase. We are looking to do an FHA loan, 3.5% down, owner occupied.

I have spoke to a few local banks about my financing options already but I wanted to write this post and see if anybody knows any good FHA-approved lenders around central Iowa I could go meet with. I want to meet with another 5-10 lenders and pick our best fit from a good sample size.

I appreciate all the suggestions, thanks all!

I would suggest Amy Smith at University of Iowa Community Credit Union. UICCU does some creative financing on their portfolio loans. At one time they were doing nothing down, no PMI (though really its baked into the interest rate), 90/10 loans.
