Land Contract for Deed v Trust Deed

Am evaluating the purchase of a bare piece of land from a family member. Terms/price are good. 

Do I want a deed of trust or a land contract for deed? Will be amortized 10 yrs, with 5 yr balloon. 

I assume a title inspection would be smart?  Anything else I need to get?
