Best Investment for Depreciation

Michael Zandona
Posted

What investment choices would you recommend to offset W2 income taxes?  Let’s say we’re shooting for $50k tax saving per year. My wife is a real estate professional (we can deduct real estate depreciation) so a property with significant bonus depreciation would be ideal.

Most rentals now don’t cash flow at 7.5% interest rates. But I’d still like to buy something to offset our tax burden. Assuming it makes sense and covers its costs.

I'm totally against investing for tax benefits. Choose your investments based on their growth potential and their risk. Depreciation is just a bonus, pun intended.
