My Experience with Prime Corporate Services Consultation (August 2026)

I was referred to Prime Corporate Services through BiggerPockets. I had a consultation call today with a Senior Advisor regarding tax strategy for my LLC, which holds two long-term rental properties.

My situation: Joint W-2 income and 2 rental properties operating at a paper loss after depreciation and expenses. Passive activity loss rules prevent me from deducting rental losses against my W-2 income.

What happened on the call:

  • The advisor presented generic slides covering Startup Provisions (100% deductible startup costs) and the QBI Deduction (20% deduction on qualified business income).
  • Neither of these apply to my situation. QBI requires positive net business income — my properties operate at a loss. Startup provisions still produce passive losses that are suspended at my income level.
  • When I asked how this specifically helps someone in my tax bracket with suspended passive losses, the advisor could not provide a situation-specific answer.
  • No analysis of my actual numbers, entity structure, or AGI was performed.
  • At the end of the generic presentation, I was asked to commit to $119/month that same day.

My takeaway: The presentation appeared to be a one-size-fits-all pitch that did not account for passive activity limitations affecting high-income W-2 earners with long-term rental losses. I'd recommend anyone in a similar situation verify whether the strategies being presented actually apply to their specific AGI and activity classification before committing to a monthly fees.

BTW last year BP recommend a different tax professional what was also subpar.  A good CPA is hard to find.

100% agree. My undergrad was in Accounting. I was already a senior when I realized that I did not want to be an accountant and went into banking and lending instead. I had a similar experience and, after firing three CPAs in 4 years, I ended up just doing our own books (not like I didn't have the background) and handed my taxes off to a tax attorney buddy of mine who simply reviews, tweaks, and files for me. He doesn't do that normally, but it's a favor for a buddy. You are not alone. I really struggled myself finding someone that really understands lending and real estate. I've yet to find that person. Just chiming in because I know misery loves company.
