Does anyone have recommendations for self directed IRA companies? and.... Does setting one up allow me to use that money to purchase my own real estate?

We use Safeguard Financial and it has been an excellent experience.  Their website is www.ira123.com.  We buy and sell properties within our SD 401k continuously.
