Does my badass security system on my 4plex make me more liable?

If I have a awesome security systems will it make me anymore liable then if i did not have one? Is it a good idea to invest into one?

Does it have lasers?  Sharks?  Sharks with lasers tied to their freakin' heads? That would make it awesome!  It might increase your liability though...

In all seriousness, no one can really tell you without knowing all the facts and the law of your state.  For example, if your "security system" did have lasers or some type of "spring trap" it may be illegal and you could face liability if it hurt someone.  If you're talking about the run-of-the-mill alarm system, it might actually mitigate liability by better restricting access to the premises, etc.  Again, it may be very specific to where you live and the facts of your situation.

IMO (non-legal, naive opinion), If any issues were to arise, you could claim due diligence and best effort as a defense as long as you were not negligent.
