i made 30k throughout the year, why is it when i put the full 30k on my schedule c i get a refund, and when i put 25k on schedule c and 5k as a distribution from my s corp i owe money, i thought distributions dont have SE tax?

@Char Bacheh

We can't see what you're seeing and don't know how you're entering it in your tax software.  So we can't tell you why the results are what they are.

Why are you splitting net income between Schedule C and a distribution on your 1120S K-1?  All net income of the S Corp should generally be reported on the 1120S and your K-1.

@Eamonn McElroy i  have an s corp i am thinking if i should give myself the full 30k on a 1099 or 25k a 1099 and the rest a distribution

the issue is  when i put the full 30k on my schedule c i get a refund, and when i put 25k on schedule c and 5k as a distribution from my s corp i owe money
