Cashier's Check or a money order?????

Question

I was reading a contract and it said "the rent shall be due on or before the 25 day of each month ("rent due date") and shalll be in the form of cash, ("a cashier's check") or ("a money order")  what is that?

The reason your landlord may not welcome it is that it costs them money to accept credit card payments, and credit card payments are easier to contest. Don't be surprised if they refuse.

To give you one example, lots of landlords on here use a site called Cozy to collect rent from tenants.  It's free to use if the monthly rent payments are deducted from the tenant's bank account.  However, there's a 2.75% service fee if the tenant pays with a credit card.

Another popular way to accept rent is through Venmo.  They're also free if the payment is being deducted from a bank account.  However, they charge a 3% fee if using a credit card.

The bigger issue though (in my opinion), is the one that @Michael Plaks mentioned, which is that payments made by credit card are easier to dispute and get reversed after the fact.  That's the main reason I don't accept them as a landlord.  I want the money I accept to be guaranteed.

well that will be something..  I guess a landlord can get one of those apple box thingees but there are sure charges they will probably want to pass one might be as much as 3% per transaction.. something like that.

I doubt many landords will want to take credit cards..  just set up an ACH auto pay..

It is basically same as cash. Can take it to your bank and deposit it. Do not lose it, it is irreplaceable.

Account Closed Why the hell are you asking us?  Ask the person you’re dealing with, but it’s not likely any landlord/seller is even set up to receive cc payments.
