Employment disclosures by Human Resources

Not quite an investor question though personal savings will help with investment purchases…

Recently and due to personal circumstances, I submitted a resignation letter to my employer with an effective date in late May. Back in early March, I applied for a refi on my primary house. The loan was about to close, but just now Human Resources (HR) informed the mortgage company that I have a resignation letter in my file. Is it legal for HR to add this extra information regarding the resignation? I am still employed after all (and I have sufficient funds to continue my mortgage payments).

I just wanted to follow-up with a thank you for the responses and an update. When I called my primary contact in HR and said that someone in the office said I had a resignation letter in my file, she responded, "We're not supposed to say that. It must have been the new girl." Usually, we have small talk but she hurried off the phone. Anyhow, I was able to apply for withdrawals from my deferred comp account and that qualified for income. I signed my refi papers last Friday and it is recorded. Happy ending, I suppose. Now, it's time to focus on the building the real estate portfolio.
