Insurance requirements for contractors

Hello BP folks,

Do you require and what type of requirements to you have for your contractor's insurance that are doing the non MEP work?  I'm talking about flooring, painting and basically all the handyman stuff, though could include more dangerous work like concrete hammer-jacking.  If my contractor independent (one or two man show), they don't have insurance though a company.  I want to make sure I'm protected against injury or if the end up causing a large cost problem.
