Home Renovations: Architect Turned Contractor
Hey biggerpocketeers,
As an architect and designer, I've often encountered the frustration many residential clients face when going directly to general contractors for remodels, sidelining the crucial design process. With a wealth of on-site management experience handling subcontractors, I had a lightbulb moment: why not merge top-notch design services into the contracting process, almost as a complementary addition?
I'm pivoting to become a general contractor, offering seamlessly integrated design services alongside contracting work (and yes, think of the design services as an added bonus rather than an extra cost). My forte lies in meticulous attention to detail and adept project management skills. After extensively handling renovations on my rental property and overseeing various construction projects, I'm enthusiastic about transitioning to this contracting role.
Currently, I'm on the lookout for investors interested in partnering in the Austin area. If you're seeking a contractor with a keen eye for design and exceptional management capabilities, I'm your person. Plus, as a full-time professor teaching at UT Austin's School of Architecture, I bring a unique blend of academia and practical expertise to the table
What's your take on architects venturing into contracting roles to offer integrated design and construction services? Do you see this as a game-changer in the remodeling industry, or are there potential challenges you foresee in this approach?
Let's chat if you're keen on elevating your remodeling projects with a design-focused approach!
