Finding a GC to handle all rehab out of state

Matt Smith
Posted

Hi Everyone!

I live in Illinois and am looking at a fix and flip property in Indiana. My question is, when doing an out of state fix and flip deal, what are your suggestions on finding contractors, estimating rehab costs, etc? Thanks!

The first thing I'd do is look for referrals from your team. They should be able to give you a few names of people in the area.

Ask other contractors/subs who they've worked with that does a good job. Especially if the person you're asking does quality work as they won't want to give you a bad reference as it would reflect poorly on them.

You can also try pulling recent building permits in your target area to see who the contractor on those jobs were.
